STYRIAN  GOLDING

-         Breeding Properties:

Styrian Golding, which belongs to the Fuggles ecotype, is a tradi­tional hop variety in Slovenia. It is a medium early variety, its opti­mal picking time in Slovenia being between August 18th and 25th.

-         Characteristic Ingredients and Brewing Quality:

Styrian Golding is an aroma hop variety, its aroma is very mild and it excels by noble hoppy flavour. It contains 3 - 5 % of α -acids (27 - 33 % of cohumulone). The ratio between α - and β - acids is about 1.5. The essential oil content varies from 0.3 to 1.7 % of dry hops. The ratio between α - humulene and β - caryophyllene in the essential oil is about 3.5. Savinjski Golding has a very good storage stability. Beer prepared with this variety has very good organolepti­cal scores for its bitterness, taste and aroma. The yield of α - acids is good when brewing with this variety.

Cohumulone:                      25 – 30 % of alpha acids

Colupulone:                         45 – 53 % of beta acids

Myrcene:                               27 – 33 % of whole oil

α – humulene:                     34 – 38 % of whole oil

β – caryophyllenne:              9 – 11 % of whole oil

Farnesene:                           2– 5 % of whole oil
